D-MAX GETS A 2017 FACELIFT

As reported on our website back in February, a leaked online brochure forewarned of the updates Isuzu had in store for the 2017 spec D-MAX.
The major improvement being the reworked 3L four-cylinder diesel 4JJ1 engine. While top end power remains stable at 130Kw at 3,600rpm, the noticeable increase was found at the lower end of the rev spectrum.
The 2017 model offers 430Nm torque at 2,000rpm, a handy increase over the 2016 model, which offered 380Nm at the same revs.
The updated powerplant has been equipped with a diesel particulate filter in order to bring it in line with Euro 5 standards, while a raft of other under-bonnet updates have been made to the fuel pump, pistons, injectors and turbo.
The automatic D-MAX is fitted up with the same Aisin gearbox as the 2016 model, while the manual receives a new six-speed transmission built in-house by Isuzu.
The D-MAX’s front end has received a few stylistic tweaks, with updates to the grille, bumper and bonnet offering a fresh look.
Further updates are offered to the higher spec LS-U and LS-T utes, including built-in satellite navigation and a new eight-inch centre console screen.
